A Short Story
It slipped from my hand and rolled beneath the built-in desk. I bent down to grab it and felt something else first - canvas. I pulled it out slowly, as it caught the light.

A painting appeared, oil-darkened and softened by time. I knew immediately it wasn’t mine. Someone else had made it long ago and left it quietly waiting. The surface was beautiful. The colors had deepened. The marks felt confident. Refined. Unfinished.

I kept it nearby. On the floor. Leaned against the table. The more I lived with it, the more it influenced me. Then I hung it up and let the light move across it. Eventually, I shared it. Not with explanation - just by letting people see it.

Now it has a home where it’s seen every day. It’s loved. It’s lived with. The painting hangs in my room now. I see it every day. Keeping it made the room feel like home.
